101 In 1001

They say you accomplish more when you write it down. I believe it. So, I’ve decided to take the 101 in 1001 Challenge. Now, you can google this, it’s not new. But I first heard about it on Jessica Claire’s site and Melissa Jill’s site.

Basically the premise is to write down 101 things that you want to accomplish in 1001 days. It can be anything and everything. From big to small, simple to complex.

My official start date is today: December 1st, 2009. This will make my end date August 28th, 2012.

I plan to post my progress as I go.

1. LEARN SPANISH FLUENTLY
2. MAKE CHICKEN MOLE FROM SCRATCH
3. BECOME CPR CERTIFIED
4. MAKE AN EMERGENCY KIT: NOT THE TYPICAL KIND, THE KIND WITH ALL OUR ACCOUNTS, PASSWORDS, POLICY INFO, BENEFICIARY INFO, ETC., IN CASE SOMETHING HAPPENS
5. MAKE A WILL
6. ESTABLISH A LIVING TRUST FOR MY KIDS
7. CONTRIBUTE TO MY CHILDREN'S SAVINGS ACCOUNT EVERY PAYCHECK. NO SET AMOUNT, JUST SOMETHING.
8. TAKE A PHOTOSHOP CLASS TO LEARN ABOUT GRAPHICS, NOT PHOTO EDITING.
9. GET CHAPS BUFFALINO STARTED.
10. TAKE PICTURES OF MY KIDS EVERY SINGLE MONTH FOR A YEAR BEGINNING IN 2010.
11. GET PUBLISHED IN A MAGAZINE.
12. GET TO MY GOAL WEIGHT.
13. TAKE A METALSMITHING CLASS.
14. LEARN TO PLAY MY GUITAR.
15. READ AT LEAST ONE BOOK PER MONTH STARTING JANUARY 2010.
16. MOVE OUT OF ARIZONA.
17. GO ROCK CLIMBING (INDOOR).
18. GO TO THE GRAND CANYON.
19. GET FAMILY PHOTOS DONE BY TARA WHITNEY.
20. ORGANIZE ALL MY PHOTOS, BOTH FILM AND DIGITAL.
21. GET PICTURES PRINTED, FRAMED, AND HUNG THROUGH OUT THE HOUSE.
22. SEND MY HUSBAND TO BLIZZCON WITH NO EXPENSE SPARED.
23. VISIT NYC AT CHRISTMAS TIME.
24. PAY OFF OUR DEBT.
25. PERFECT THE CORNISH PASTY.
26. BLOG AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK FOR A WHOLE YEAR STARTING JANUARY 2010.
27. LEARN THE STOCK MARKET.
28. START A TRADING ACCOUNT.
29. QUIT MY DAY JOB AND BE A WORK-AT-HOME MAMA.
30. TAKE A WEEK LONG TRIP TO AN INCLUSIVE RESORT, SOMEWHERE TROPICAL…MAYBE ATLANTIS OR DISNEY CRUISE!
31. COOK/BAKE MY WAY THROUGH MY MARTH STEWART BOOK. AT LEAST MAKE 2 RECIPES FROM EACH CATEGORY.
32. TAKE A COOKING CLASS.
33. RUN A 5K.
34. RUN A HALF-MARATHON.
35. BECOME A GRILL MASTER: ALL MEAT, FISH, VEGGIES, FRUIT, ETC.
36. DEFINE MY STYLE: UPDATE WARDROBE, MAKE-UP, HAIR, ETC.
37. CREATE A COOKBOOK OF FAMILY FAVORITES: ADD TO AS I FIND/CREATE SUCCESSFUL MEALS.
38. DO A PHOTOSHOOT OF MY NANA.
39. CREATE MY "KITCHEN WALL OF PHOTOS".
40. KEEP AN INSPIRATION NOTEBOOK. REFER TO IT. BUILD MY CREATIVITY ON IT. BLOG ABOUT THE SUCCESSES AND FAILURES OF IT.
41. DONATE TIME TO A CHILDREN'S CHARITY.
42. DO THE BREAST CANCER 3 DAY.
43. PLAY POKER AT A REAL POKER TABLE IN A CASINO.
44. READ THE BIBLE. ALL OF IT.
45. PAY IT FORWARD ANONYMOUSLY WHEN I CAN.
46. LEARN LIGHTROOM
47. BE MORE POSITIVE.
48. WORK ON PATIENCE.
49. TAKE A YOGA CLASS.
50. STAY AT A RESORT ALONG SOME PART OF THE WEST COAST THAT IS LITERALLY ON THE BEACH.
51. TAKE DANCE LESSONS WITH MY HUBBY WHEN WE BOTH GET TO OUR GOAL WEIGHT.
52. VISIT A DAIRY FARM AND ACTUALLY WORK ON IT FOR A DAY.
53. TAKE A PAINTING CLASS.
54. LEARN ABOUT BEER.
55. BE A BROWNIE TROOP LEADER.
56. WATCH THE BALL DROP. THIS WOULD BE IN CONJUNCTION WITH # 23
57. ORGANIZE AN URBAN CRAFT FAIR.
58. LEARN THE CRAFT OF CANNING.
59. RE-LEARN KNITTING.
60. TEACH MYSELF HOW TO CROCHET.
61. READ THE CLASSIC WORKS OF LITERATURE THAT I PROBABLY SHOULD'VE READ SOMEWHERE BETWEEN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE, BUT DIDN'T.
62. LEARN TO MAKE TAMALES AND MENUDO LIKE MY MOTHER-IN-LAW.
63. DRIVE A TRACTOR.
64. SHADOW MY FATHER-IN-LAW FOR ONE DAY DURING THE BUSIEST TIME OF HIS GROWING SEASON
65. HAVE MY MOM TEACH ME ALL THE HARD SEWING STUFF: ZIPPERS, BUTTON HOLES, PLEATS, ETC.
66. GO HORSEBACK RIDING ON THE BEACH.
67. VIDEO TAPE THE KIDS MORE OFTEN.
68. VOLUNTEER FOR A HABITAT FOR HUMANITY PROJECT.
69. TEACH PENELOPE HOW TO READ BEFORE SHE STARTS KINDERGARTEN (8/10).
70. GO TO THE SPACE NEEDLE.
71. RIDE THE AMTRAK FROM PORTLAND TO SEATTLE.
72. DOCUMENT THE BIRTH STORIES OF MY CHILDREN. THEY AREN'T FAR OUT, JUST TO HAVE FOR POSTERITY SAKE.
73. GO TO A JASMINE STAR WORKSHOP EVEN THOUGH I'M NOT INTERESTED IN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY.
74. RESEARCH OLD PHOTOGRAPHERS AND BLOG ABOUT IT.
75. SEE JIM GAFFIGAN LIVE.
76. SEE JIMMY BUFFET AGAIN.
77. LEARN HOW TO MAKE RED / GREEN / YELLOW CURRY.
78. REPAINT PENELOPE'S FURNITURE.
79. FIND A THRIFT STORE ITEM W/POTENTIAL AND REUPHOLSTER.
80. MAKE WEEKLY MEAL PLANS AND GROCERY BUDGET AND STICK TO IT.
81. DO AT LEAST ONE LOAD(WASH/DRY/PUT AWAY) OF LAUNDRY EACH NIGHT TO AVOID MT. LAUNDRYMORE. LAUNDRY IS MY NEMESIS
82. COOK/BAKE MY WAY THROUGH THE ENTIRE PIONEER WOMAN COOKS COOKBOOK. COMPLETE WITH PICTURES AND ALL IN HOPES THAT SHE MENTIONS ME ON HER BLOG AND MAYBE AN INVITATION TO HER INFAMOUS RANCH WHERE WE CAN COOK AND "WORK CATTLE" TOGETHER!
83. GO TO A PLAY WITH MY HUSBAND. ANY PLAY. IT'S NOT REALLY OUR THING, BUT IT COULD BE FUN.
84. TAKE THE KIDS TO A D-BACKS GAME.
85. GO TO THE CONAN O'BRIEN SHOW.
86. MAKE A QUILT.
87. MAKE HOMEMADE PASTA.
88. LEARN DIFFERENT CUTS OF BEEF AND WHERE THE COME FROM AND THE CHARACTERISTICS OF EACH. FLANK STEAK? WHAT? T-BONE? FILET OF THIS-THAT-OR-WHATEVER? STEW MEAT? PORTERHOUSE, HUH?
89. START A CRAFT GROUP.
90. GROW MY OWN HERB GARDEN.
91. HIKE CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN.
92. LEARN TO MAKE THE PERFECT PIZZA CRUST.
93. MAKE MY OWN FRESH MOZZARELLA CHEESE.
94. PERMANENTLY DECLUTTER MY HOUSE. MAKE EVERYTHING HAVE IT'S PLACE. NO JUNK DRAWERS, NO MAIL PILES, NO STUFFING ANYTHING ANYWHERE.
95. KEEP MY CAR CLEAN FOR AT LEAST A MONTH (THE GOAL IS FOREVER, BUT LET'S START SMALL).
96. TAKE THE DOGS FOR A REAL WALK AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK.
97. MEET CHEF ANNE BURRELL.
98. GET MY WoW PLAYER TO LEVEL 80.
99. TAKE A CAKE DECORATING CLASS.
100. SEND MY NANA A HANDWRITTEN LETTER/CARD EACH WEEK FOR A WHOLE YEAR STARTING JANUARY 2010.
101. WATCH A SUNRISE AND DOCUMENT IT.

What a great idea! I've not heard about it until today, when reading your blog. I really like it. Hmm, I'll have to think about this. It might be fun to tackle. Your list has some really interesting ideas on it!! Good luck on many worthy adventures.
